The Department of Economics at the University of Wisconsin - Madison is a top teaching and research department comprised of a dedicated group of faculty, staff and students who lead the field in current economic issues.
The mission of the department is to understand the decisions of businesses and consumers as well as the implications and causes of contemporary economic issues by developing a systematic and thorough understanding of precisely how economic systems operate.
Ours is one of the fastest growing departments here at the University due to the relevance of our subject matter in current affairs, and the excellent reputation of teaching and scholarship within the department.
Michael W. Klein, William L. Clayton Professor of International Economic Affairs at the Fletcher School, Tufts University. From June 2010 to December 2011 he served as Chief Economist in the Office of International Affairs at the U.S. Treasury. He is also author of the 2011 novel Something for Nothing. He will speak in the department about his book, writing a novel, his time at Treasury and more.
