A Comparison of the Meyers and Phipps Scholarships

Download this page in PDF

The calls for applications for the Susan M. Meyers and the Mary Claire Phipps Scholarships describe similar though not identical scholarships. Here is a list of differences between the two scholarships:

Level of support: Phipps covers two years of full tuition, Meyers covers $4000 of tuition for one year.

Criteria: Phipps: merit only. Meyers: merit and need.

Eligibility:
1. Both Meyers and Phipps: sophomores, Econ majors, 3.0 GPA.
2. Phipps: Wisconsin residents only. Meyers: Wisconsin or non-Wisconsin resident.

Application details:
1. Both Meyers and Phipps; personal information, information on course work, personal statement.
2. Phipps requires names of two faculty references, Meyers does not.
3. Meyers asks that you indicate whether you qualify for need based financial aid, Phipps does not.

If you are a Wisconsin resident, you are invited to apply for both scholarships (though of course you will be awarded at most one scholarship).
